Defence Housing Australia completes half of its overall housing target
Another milestone has been reached in the Nation Building-Economic Stimulus Plan, with completion of half of the expected homes under the Defence Housing Australia (DHA) program.
DHA, which received $245.58 million from the Nation Building-Economic Stimulus Plan, has completed 420 of the 829 intended houses for Australian Defence Force Families.
DHA has focused building the new homes in major regional centres where there is a strong Defence presence.
The new homes are expected to take the pressure off the local housing markets and provide secure homes for Australian Defence Force members and their families.
DHA originally intended to construct 802 homes throughout Australia, but due to program efficiency, was able to add an additional 27 houses to the target. As such, DHA expect to complete the remaining 409 homes ahead of time and on budget.
All 829 houses are expected to be complete by March 2011.
