Groundbreaking in Ermington
The first sod at our new Defence housing development in Ermington, Sydney has been turned by the Minister for Defence Science and Personnel, Warren Snowdon.
The ceremony took place last week, marking the start of construction for the site which will provide 42 new townhouses for Defence members and their families.
The new townhouses will be built to six star Energy Efficiency Ratings, providing homes which reduce environmental impacts, and the cost of living for families.
The site, which is 30 minutes from Sydney's CBD, is an ideal location for Defence families who will also be close to public transport, schools and other amenities.
The site has significant historical heritage as it was once home to Australian sporting legend Betty Cuthbert. The existing heritage-listed cottage will be preserved in its' current condition for future generations to enjoy.
