Gordon Olive Estate Opening

Defence Housing Australia's (DHA) new Gordon Olive Estate in Brisbane was officially launched by the Deputy Prime Minister and Member for Lilley, the Hon. Wayne Swan, last week.

The Olive family were in attendance to celebrate the opening of the estate named after RAAF World War II Veteran, Gordon Olive CBE, as a permanent reminder of his significant contribution to Australia, and his community.

The estate provides 61 architecturally-designed houses for Australian Defence Force members and their families. The houses are all built to a six-star Energy Efficiency Rating, and include a variety of townhouses, duplexes and detached houses.

Families living at Gordon Olive Estate will be ideally located just 15 minutes from the Gallipoli Barracks, 20 minutes from the CBD, close to amenities and public transport, and a short walk from the McDowall Primary School.

DHA included an open park on the site, which is accessible to residents and their neighbours in the local community.

Residents and those neighbouring the area can also access the local primary school via a short walk through the estate.

The development of Gordon Olive Estate has injected around $20.4 million into the local economy and construction industry.
