New houses completed in Ipswich

Defence Housing Australia has accepted the handover of 31 new Defence homes in Ipswich.

Fairview Rise Estate Stage Two is the final stage of a 162 lot subdivision, located approximately 8km from the Amberley RAAF base.

All of the houses have been designed to capture the Queensland cottage style of housing synonymous with the Ipswich region's heritage. Each home has been sited to maximise solar penetration and breezeways to provide comfortable living all year round. The houses have an excellent indoor/outdoor relationship as well as a mixture of light and heavy weight building materials and a colour palette that responds well to the region's harsh climatic conditions.

PBS Building (ACT) Pty Ltd completed the first 31 houses, funded under DHA's existing construction program, during June 2009. There are 54 remaining houses in Stage Two, funded through the Australian Government's Nation Building- Economic Stimulus Plan (NB-ESP).

DHA is committed to building 244 houses in south-east Queensland (Brisbane, Ipswich and Toowoomba) under the NB-ESP during 2009-11. Investment in the construction of houses in south-east Queensland is forecast to exceed $70.7 million and generate in excess of 140 jobs directly and many more indirectly.
