Rex D. Dog makes an appearance at Canberra's DCO Day
Recently Defence Housing Australia staff attended the Canberra Defence Community Organisation (DCO) Welcome Day for Defence members and their families new to the region. The weather was fine, despite the dubious weather report for the day, and there was a good attendance of Defence families.
Canberra Housing Management Centre (HMC) staff were on hand to assist with any questions from Defence members and their families as well as to share some goodies with the crowd.
There was a lot of activity on the day with everyone enjoying the festivities including a petting zoo, sausage sizzle, jumping castle, face painting, fire engines and even some police cars. One of the main attractions for the day (for the kids and adults alike) was a visit from DHA's very own mascot Rex D. Dog.
Sara Howell, Housing Manager for the Canberra HMC, witnessed the excitement that occurred when Rex arrived, 'I don't think I've ever seen so many children running for a hug, handshake or ride! He was the most popular attraction of the day,' Sara said.
